Product of the week: InStyler

by

This will be my second product of the week this week, but it’s a brand new product at Hairtrade and I already love it.

The InStyler is a rotating iron that uses a heated motorised rotation and can be used for pretty much everything – straightening, curling, creating volume and adding shine.

I’ve got medium-long hair (past my shoulders) but after trialling this product I think it would be suitable for all hair even those with bobs.

I have the kind of hair that is naturally quite straight, but still needs straighteners to get it smooth and stop the ends from flicking out. But just like most people, I want the opposite hair to what I have so I’d much rather have curly hair so I spend my time trying to achieve those natural curls (who knew it took so long to look natural!).

I usually use my trusty Cloud Nine iron as they glide effortlessly through the hair. I also use them to curl my hair and have finally managed to get the hang of this without it having those annoying straight ends. The only problem with this is that it takes so much time to do, which is why I love the InStyler.

It is really quick and easy to use with the 32mm barrel, so it helps me create the larger curls / natural waves which I love. To do this, you simply gather a 2”-3” section of hair (which is more hair than normal straighteners can take for curling), and carefully wrap the section around the cylinder and close it for 5-10 seconds depending on how defined you want the curls. You can then run your fingers through the curl to separate it.

The other thing I found great about the InStyler was its ability to create volume and body at the roots. With my hair being quite straight and fine, it often just falls flat. You simply use it at the root with the cylinder towards your scalp and you will have instant volume.

Straightening is also extremely easy to do, it glides down the hair so effortlessly and if you want the ends turned in slightly if you have shorter layers,  simply angle the cylinder at the end.

Its soft bristles also help to separate the hair strands allowing for an even distribution on the barrel. The barrel then smoothly polishes and styles each strand. The second set of bristles adds volume and shine making it soft and silky. You couldn’t ask for much more in a styler that straightens and curls!

As it has a motorised rotating barrel, the Instyler does produce some noise but this isn’t a problem at all. It also has multiple heat settings so you can choose a setting that best suits your hair – I have quite fine hair so tend to use the lowest heat but those with thicker or coarse hair would be able to use the higher temperature.

You also receive a wide toothed comb, an instructions DVD to help create the styles and also a heat shield and travel bag.

Has anyone else used the InStyler yet, what styles have you tried?
