How To: Volume & Texture

by

This week, Laura from Tiny Twisst shows us how to add volume and texture to our hair.

Getting volume, textured hair seems to be a bit of a struggle. Throughout my life, I have bought many products, trialed and tested any hair method I can find and nothing seemed to really work. It’s only now at the tender age of 26 that I feel I have finally figured out the secret to getting that ‘voluminous messy hair’ that I have wanted for years.. and you know what? It’s not all that difficult!

Personally, I find that my hair is easier to style when I wash it without conditioner. So, if you know you want to style your hair in this way, skip the conditioning stage every now and then to stop your hair becoming too silky. A texturising shampoo is always a good idea too, anything to help give your hair some grip.

Before you proceed to drying your hair, you’ll want to add some salt spray. Salt spray is excellent for texture, because it mattifies the hair slightly. This Fudge salt texture spray is brilliant for this, and smells just like coconut – heavenly! Spray through hair, gently scrunching it into the ends.

Lastly, for the extra root lift, spray some dry shampoo throughout your hair, focusing mainly on the roots. I’ve been using this Bed Head matte Dry Shampoo and it’s great for this type of look!
