Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Review

by

If dry, damaged hair is what you’re currently struggling with, I’ll bet that you’ll be dying to find the right new product that can transform your hair. Right? I know I am.

I don’t know if it’s the effects of winter or just the lack of the right products and ingredients, but for weeks now, my hair has felt so deflated, dry and just un-inspiring. I’ve been wondering where to even start when it comes to products, but I think I’ve found a range that could be just what I’ve been looking for.

Introducing, the Awapuhi Wild Ginger collection by Paul Mitchell. A brand that I’ve known and loved for years (so have Hairtrade), Paul Mitchell is such a leader in haircare, that I always trust their collections. With the promise of transforming dry, damaged hair, you could say I was excited to see what this range was all about.

As a bit of a background, Paul Mitchell have been harvesting Awapuhi in Hawaii since 1983. In 2010, the Awapuhi Wild Ginger collection was born. Paul Mitchell have combined the amazingly moisturising properties of Awapuhi with their KeraTriplex blend to create luxury care for dry, damaged hair.

I’ve been very fortunate to try the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Shine and Volume Boutique Box which comes with six amazing products from the collection, focusing on both repairing the hair and styling the hair.

Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Botique Box

Moisturising Lather Shampoo & Keratin Cream Rinse

With the Moisturising Lather Shampoo, the hair is left feeling clean and healthy, but repaired too. When followed with the Keratin Cream Rinse, the hair feels soft and protected, but it’s also full of shine too. Just what you hoped to hear, right?

Keratin Intensive Treatment

For me, treatments are life. I love using nourishing and repairing treatments weekly to try and help my hair as much as I can. The Keratin Intensive Treatment infuses the hair with moisture and shine, but the texture of the hair is also improved instantly.

Hydromist Blow Out Spray

Then, once the hair has been repaired, the styling can start. The Hydromist Blow Out Spray is a great blow dry primer. I’ve reviewed a lot of primers recently and this one is a standout star. It’s non-greasy, non-stick and is lightweight. It also helps to hold your style in place for days and protect it from damage.

Styling Treatment Oil & Finishing Spray

When using the Styling Treatment Oil, the hair is infused with moisture and frizz is forgotten. I am a huge, huge fan of oils in life and hair oils are no exception. It’s lightweight, smoothing and adds shine to your finished style. Then, follow with the Finishing Spray to keep your ‘do in place, fight off humidity and ensure the shine sticks.

Summary

I have to say, I’ve used each of the products in this exact order twice now and I’m impressed. I’ve always been afraid of using too many products in my hair and even using just one brand or collection in one go, but the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger collection is one for the win. Give any one of the products a whirl, we’d love to know what you think!
