1. Get regular trims

Even if you’re growing your hair for the big day you can still get trims (even the tiniest trim will help!) to stop any split ends from snapping further. This will help your hair look super healthy on the day. Aim for every 6-8 weeks.

2. Use detangling products

If you’re hair tends to be quite knotty and tangled when you step out the shower, invest in a leave in detangling spray or a good detangling conditioner. This way you won’t be pulling on the hair trying to brush it out and possibly even damaging and snapping some strands. Our favourite conditioner is Paul Mitchell The Detangler and for those of you with curly hair, try Goldwell Dualsenses Curly Twist Detangling Spray Conditioner.

3. Don’t forget the heat protection spray

Ideally, try to cut down on the heat styling such as straighteners and curling tongs on the run up to your wedding to give your hair a rest. But if you do need to use heat, don’t forget to protect it first! If you wear hair extensions use I&K heat protector spray. We also love Tigi S Factor Flat Iron Shine Spray which gives a gorgeous shine too!

4. Prep your hair

Use a conditioning treatment twice per week to rehydrate and nourish your hair. Pureology Strength Cure Restorative Masque is great for repaiting damaged, colour treated hair and reduces breakage to help prevent further damage. We also love Moroccanoil Weightless Hydrating Mask for finer hair and for a quick 5 minute revival!

5. Avoid experimenting with colour

Try not to go for a new colour right before your wedding. The colour may not be what you expect and we all know how hard it can be to colour correct in a short period of time. Stick to what you know and love!

6. Use the correct hair care

Your hair texture can change just like your skin does. So for days where your hair is feeling a little dry if you’ve styled it a lot, use a moisturising shampoo such as Redken Real Control to leave hair feeling soft and frizz free. Redken All Soft is ideal if your hair is brittle and lacks softness. For those of you with coloured hair, invest in a shampoo that will prolong your colour such as Wella SP Colour Save Shampoo.

7. Keep the tips of your hair conditioned

The ends of the hair tend to be the driest parts of hair as well as the weakest. Styling, brushing, drying and colouring hair can damage the ends easily, so make sure you use a product to help repair and nourish. Morocacnoil treatment is perfect for this as it can be used on both wet and dry hair and also available in a light version, Moroccanoil Light Treatment, for fine and fair-coloured hair.

8. Keep up the hair care on your honeymoon!

If you’re off to a sunny climate for your honeymoon, don’t forget to keep up your hair care routine to protect your gorgeous locks from the sun. The Paul Mitchell Sun range is ideal to take away with you and includes a Hydrating Shampoo, Sun Shield Conditioning Spray, and an After Sun Replenishing Masque. Plus they’re available in handy 100ml size for your hand luggage!
