Ever since we found the wonders of the hair straightener, we’ve all wanted frizz free, sleek hair. You use your favourite hair straighteners and your hair instantly becomes more shiny, straight and most importantly frizz and kink free!
For those of you with thicker, and more coarse, frizzy hair, hair straighteners aren’t always enough, especially if you don’t have time to straighten your hair every day. Not to mention the over use of heat causing further damage. If you have extremely thick hair, you’ll probably find it a struggle going through section by section constantly straightening.
What else can you do? The Brazilian Blow Dry.
The Brazilian Blow Dry treatment originated in Brazil and works by injecting pure Keratin (which is a natural hair protein) into each strand of hair. As a result, the Keratin acts as a sort of ‘hair botox’, repairing internal damage and coating the hair preventing further damage. After the treatment your hair has a mirror like shine on it and is completely frizz free and tamed.
The best thing about the Brazilian Blow Dry is that it’s suitable on all hair types whether curly, frizzy, coloured or damaged.
How does it work?
During the Brazilian Blow Dry, your hair is shampooed with a Brazilian Blow Dry shampoo which opens the cuticle. It is then rough dried and the treatment is applied section by section. The hair is the blow dried professionally by your stylist. To lock in the lustre, special Keratin straighteners that are exceptionally hot, are used through your hair leaving it silky, sleek, and super soft.
What about aftercare?
After the treatment you must not wash your hair for 78 hours. You must also ensure you leave it completely poker straight for this time (which means no tucking your hair behind your ears, or tying it back.) If hair gets wet, it must be blow dried and straightened immediately.
After the 78 hour period you must wash your hair with Brazilian blow dry shampoo and conditioner only – I recommend La Brasiliana shampoo and La Brasiliana conditioner. They will maintain the integrity of the treatment by adding Kaeratin and Collagen into the hair and ensure the longevity of the treatment. I also recommend La Brasiliana Tre Define & Shine which will help with styling and shine. A drop of this serum will seal in moisture into the hair follicles and will make your hair much easier to blow dry and style.
Of course with any hair treatment, we always recommend you book a consultation with your hair stylist to discuss the products used and which ingredients are used as treatments and ingredients can vary greatly from salon to salon. Some Brazilian Blow Dry treatments in the past have contained an ingredient called Formaldehyde which should be avoided due to its effects. At I&K Salons we use a formaldehyde-free treatment, but we always recommend that you check the ingredients in the treatment you have chosen at other salons.
