Hairstyles for the Party Season

by

Now that the festive season is in full swing, it’s time to get thinking about those killer hairstyles you’ll be rocking for Christmas and New Year. Whether you’re a pro when it comes to styling or a novice looking for a little help, we’ve pulled together a few little looks that are sure to wow for this year’s party season.

If you’re a lover of curls, then take a little inspiration from the abundance of Christmassy curls in our title image. With an air of vintage glamour the curls have been achieved with a large barreled curling iron like the BaByliss Ceramic Dial a Heat Tong. Then, the hair should be teased at the roots to add in that glamorous film-star style edge.

If you often wear your hair curly or on opt for something straight on the days you don’t, you might be keen to try something new. Sometimes, the Christmas season or New Years celebrations are the perfect times to opt for something with sass. Loose, messy curls that are tied in a chignon are great for achieving a look with difference.

For this look, you’ll need to work on day-old hair or add in a little Paul Mitchell Re-Works Texture Cream if you’re desperate to wash your hair on the day. Then, curl your hair with either tongs, a wand or straighteners to achieve the look you love. But, remember not to keep it too neat. To finish, apply hairspray to the body of the hair and scrunch for volume and texture.

Finish by loosely pulling the hair back and fixing with clips or a band, not taking too much care on neatness – the messier the better. Finally, pull some of the front bits of the hair loose from the chignon to add a little more edge to the final look.

Sometimes, all you need to make a statement for the party season is poker-straight hair. Perhaps favoured more in 90s and 00s, straight hair is definitely making a come back and never fails to stun at a party. By using a little straightening assistance from TIGI’s Bed Head Straighten Out and following up with your favourite GHD Styler when dry, you’ll be able to achieve poker straight locks that last all night long.
